International Exchange Experience in Finland – Dortea Nakandjibi, University of Namibia through BOC Scholarship

The SANORD community celebrates the inspiring journey of Dortea Nakandjibi from the University of Namibia, who recently embarked on an academic exchange to Finland, made possible through the Brian O'Connell Scholarship Programme.

Dortea’s arrival in Kuopio, Finland marked the beginning of a life-changing chapter both personally and professionally. In just her first week, she was immersed in vibrant orientation activities, connecting with students from across the globe while embracing the warmth and serenity of Finnish culture.

“It has only been a week since I arrived in Kuopio, and the experience so far has exceeded my expectations in every way,” Dortea shared. From tranquil lakes and green landscapes to Finland’s famous saunas and unique culinary offerings, her introduction to Finnish life has been a rewarding cultural discovery.

Academically, Dortea is eager to delve into business courses aligned with her passion for agribusiness, aiming to enhance her expertise and contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s agricultural sector. Collaborating with supervisors from both the University of Namibia and the University of Eastern Finland, she views this exchange as a valuable opportunity for research, learning, and personal growth.

Beyond academics, Dortea has embraced Finland’s famed sauna culture, experienced its culinary delights, and joined the student union, quickly building friendships and a sense of belonging in her new environment.
